Lent 1 God’s Promise
The Word
God said to Noah, “I am making a promise with you and your descendants. Never again will the
world be destroyed by a flood. As a sign of this promise I am putting my rainbow in the sky.
Whenever the rainbow appears, I will remember my promise to you.”
Gn 9:8-15 | Ps 24 | Pt 3:18-22 | Mk 1:12-15
Look Closer
A Story: At this time last year, you were feeling resentful. When things went wrong, you
would look for someone to blame. It felt like every day was gloomy with dark rain clouds. So you
gave up blame and resentment for Lent! After a week you began to feel better. Instead of feeling
gloomy and irritable like rain clouds, you felt peaceful like a rainbow after a storm.

Introducing Jordan and the School Wellbeing
The School Wellbeing Program (SWP) is delivered by Centacare Central West & Orana across 33 schools. SWP is a short-term service providing a range of wellbeing services such as counselling, case management and group facilitation. Jordan works as a counsellor within SWP and currently attends St Joseph's Manildra every 2nd Tuesday (odd weeks). Jordan has
experience working across both primary and high school settings. She enjoys engaging with students and their families. If you feel support would benefit your child or family, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher to discuss a referral. After a referral has been received,
Jordan makes contact with a child's family to
discuss what support is required.
Pupil Free Day
Wednesday 21st February. Teaching staff and teacher’s aides will attend a one day
Professional Development Day in Orange with Dr Michael McDowell.
Week 2 Spotlight
Lauren
Lauren is our star under the spotlight this week. She has already created amazing complex
sentences in the first week of Year One! Lauren is a quick thinker and is proving to be a clever
mathematician who confidently explains her reasoning and answers. She has been a fabulous role
model to the Kinder children. Lauren is ready to learn each day by being organised and listening
attentively. She has shown her creative flair with her self-portrait. Lauren engages with all areas of
the curriculum. During play times she can be seen climbing the equipment, skipping or joining in
games with her friends. It will be exciting to see Lauren’s growth, learning and confidence grow this
year.
